Three Tips For No Makeup Makeup

A 'no makeup’ makeup look is about emphasizing your natural features and individuality without looking too done up.

I have many chats with brides-to-be about not wanting to look overly made up on their big day. Either because they're not used to wearing much or perhaps don't even wear any makeup on a regular basis. Others say they're worried about looking too caked or not themselves. Whether you're enlisting the help of a professional (always recommended!) or you're having a go yourself, here are three tips on how to achieve a no makeup makeup look:

1) Foundation first

A liquid foundation evens out overall skin tone but if it looks too thick, mix it with moisturiser. It still provides coverage without looking like there’s too much product on your face. Lightly dust translucent powder over the top to hold it all in place for the long day ahead. Avoid over powdering, as you’ll lose the natural radiance of the skin, focus on the T-zone area (across the forehead and down the nose). Another option is to go for Airbrush foundation, this offers an HD barely there finish.

2) Natural glow

Match the colour of your blusher with the natural flush that appears in your cheeks after a brisk walk. Powder blushers are the best option for a wedding day as they’re more durable than cream.

3) Brown over black

Brown on the eyes rather than black, or grey if you’re blonde, tends to look more subtle as it’s closer to natural colourings and skin tones. Curling your eyelashes is a must as it opens up the eyes, use a clear serum or brown mascara.

Makeup is all about showing the best of yourself. However bold or minimal you go, always make sure that you step out of the door feeling and looking like you! Makeup should give you that extra boost of confidence and help you to feel totally awesome.

I’d love you to share in the comments below, is a no makeup makeup look what you'd like for your big day? Do you usually wear much makeup but feel you should for your wedding day? Have these tips helped you to feel more confident about achieving the look?
