The Most Important Wedding Day Makeup Product
In my view foundation is the most important part of your wedding makeup...
Foundation is designed to complement and enhance the appearance of your skin. If you use the right one it will make your skin look natural and it won’t drastically change your normal look; just give you a nice even toned and glowing texture.
If you’ve decided to go ahead and do your own makeup for the big day, here are my tips on how to use the most important wedding day makeup product in the right way to suit you…
Leave tinted moisturisers for every day wear, on your wedding day you need a foundation that will smooth out your skin tone fully and last you all day.
Invest in a good quality one; don’t forget that you do get what you pay for.
Make sure that you get the right colour but also the right formulation. (Ask for samples from beauty counters, take them home and wear them in daylight, all day through until the evening until you find the right one for you.)
Don’t feel that you need to go for full, thick coverage. There are lots of foundations (Laura Mercier, Estee Lauder,MAC etc.) that are very light and make you feel like you’re not wearing anything on your skin.
Apply the foundation in thin layers, starting from the middle of your forehead and the face, blend outwards using a stippled foundation brush.
On your big day it’s best to keep everything matte, a translucent powder will not only set the foundation (helping it to last all day) but it will also prevent you looking too shiny in your pictures.
Often when I first chat to brides about their big day, foundation is a hot topic. Many struggle to find one to suit them or their colourings and want to understand how I would go about doing this. As a professional makeup artist I carry a variety of foundations in my kit, this means that I can mix a colour to suit your skin perfectly. Hopefully the tips above will help you prepare for the big day and have given you some guidance on how best to deal with the foundation issue!
